My name is James Thomas and I am a third-generation farmer, primarily growing irrigated broad acre crops and orchard farming Macadamias.
I am super passionate about regenerative farming as I believe it goes a long way in helping restore balance to our soils and ecosystems. This streamlined approach allows us to grow better food and fiber crops for our benefit.
I am also interested in combining regenerative farming practices with modern technology to keep our footprints light and our soils improved. This has led me to discover the ‘Green Climber,’ which is essentially a remote-controlled tractor. It has a 60 hp engine, sits on tracks, and is compact and lightweight for its capacity. I have combined it with mulching heads to provide a service to agriculture where I support myself as a landowner regenerating farming land, as well as other landowners and farmers. Mulching plants that no longer serve a purpose or are impeding land care practices allows the soil to remain undisturbed while the plant material, along with its available nutrients and microbes, is returned to the soil to begin working its magic in soil regeneration quickly and efficiently.
The machine itself is rather cool, as it is remotely operated with an Xbox-styled gaming console. This gives me a greater perspective to achieve up-close and personal operations while maintaining good workplace health and safety practices. This allows me as an operator to work on all terrains, be safe, and still achieve excellent results.
